The pictures I chose to share were all taken in the Adironacks in upstate New York. This is a place were I spend every summer of my childhood. My parents now have a cabin there and I have been able to share my childhood experiences with my husband and children. All of the pictures capture the beauty and essence of the area. I wanted to portray relaxation and fun in the photos. I used my own photos because there weren't pictures of the area in the Creative Commons section of Flickr.
I think using this could be used in the classroom for the students to introduce themselves and where they are from. However, the Creative Commons may be limited for their location. I also think that it could be used to focus on a theme that they are interested in exploring. They could then write about the pictures.
Here is my Voice thread

Hi Trista,
ReplyDeleteI wanted to give you two quick tech notes--you might already know, but these are things I struggled with and wanted to give you the info.
If you are trying to imbed a link or a video, etc, make sure you're in "html" rather than "compose" on the edit blog screen. Then you can click preview to see if the embed worked or if the link is live or not.
Also, to get your voice thread into your blog, go into the share options of voicethread and send it to blogger and it will auto embed. You can then open the post and cut and paste it into a new post or leave it alone if you want it to be alone. I beat myself over the head about this one for about a half hour before I figured out how to auto embed it.
Also, I'm not able to comment without clicking preview twice. I finally figured out I have to click it once, wait for the 'no' info then click it again to send the comment.
Just FYI :)

Trista,
ReplyDeleteI also couldn't access your VoiceThread. Your pictures sound wonderful, though! One of my students just turned in an essay describing his cabin...I'd bet if we juxtaposed his essay and your pictures, they'd "match" up pretty well! His purpose was to capture the beauty and sense of relaxation also. :-)
